Welcome to the MOS Convention website

MOS will conduct its 76th annual convention at the Grand Hotel in Ocean City, Worcester County, Maryland, on November 22 – 24, 2024 (the weekend before Thanksgiving).

Keep checking back on this website for more information about next year’s convention.

MOS will follow the CDC, state, and local COVID guidelines in effect during the annual convention. All leaders and attendees are expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID.

Help Wanted!

“Many hands make light work.” This proverb first recorded by Sir Bevis of Hampton started back in the early 1300’s and is as true now and it was then.  Volunteers are the lifeblood of our convention, we literally cannot conduct it without our volunteers.  From field trip leaders to registration check-in staff to selling raffle tickets, our volunteers are vital to our success. We need help in these areas:

  • leading field trips
  • leading the pin design contest

There are many ways to help. Some of these activities happen before the convention and some during the convention.  If you cannot attend the convention, you can still help with finding sponsors and vendors or leading the pin design contest.  If you plan to attend the convention, you can staff the registration check-in desk, sell raffle tickets, or, of course, lead field trips.

Please consider becoming a volunteer for the convention.  Email convention@mdbirds.org and give your name, email address, phone number, and area of interest.  Thank you!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2023 MOS Convention Photo Contest!

The Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS) is a nonprofit, statewide organization of people who are interested in birds and nature. It promotes the study and enjoyment of birds, knowledge about the natural world around us, and fosters their appreciation and conservation. To that end, MOS conducts an annual convention where both members and non-members can meet, socialize, discuss conservation and natural resource topics, and enjoy guided field trips in various regions of Maryland.
